We Have Banned All Night Club Activities, Especially Prostitution – Rivers State Executive Council

The rivers state Chief Executive in the new year message banned all nightclub activities, including street prostitution and nighttime trading, especially in the surrounding streets, particularly in the Casablanca area and along Abacha road.

“This will stop the harmful effects of these depraved activities on the moral development of children and society at large.”

It is not clear how long the ban will last.

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, directed the local government chairmen of Ikwerre, Port Harcourt, Obio Akpor, Oyigbo, and Eleme to impound or remove any truck, trailer, or vehicle that has been parked on the streets for over 48 hours or within three weeks from New Year’s Day.

To stop the indiscriminate and prolonged parking of trailers and other vehicles along the streets, There was a ban in the new year’s messages for pushers, who they identified as those who steal manhole covers and scrap metal.

The Rivers state Governor directed security forces to arrest and prosecute any person who tries to violate the ban, adding that they will set up a taskforce to ensure the ban.

Nyesom Wike also asked the courts to impose serious punishment under the law on any person who is convicted as a manhole vandal without being able to secure public safety.

Nyesom Wike also banned the indiscriminate posting of advertisement materials, including flyers, posters, pictures, and artwork on bridges, flyovers, concrete walls, and safety barricades along the state roads.

He said he established an environmental marshal to enforce it and added that they would arrest and prosecute any person who would paste the posters and the person or institutions that own the adverts.
