Uche Nwosu: Rochas Reacts After The Police Arrested His Son-in-law

The recent trending news in Nigerian politics is the arrest of Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law of the former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

According to SaharaReporters, Uche Nwosu got arrested by the Imo State Police after the security officers stormed a Saint Peter’s Anglican church in the Nkwerre local government area of Imo State.

After the news of the arrest of Uche Nwosu got to Rochas, the Ex-Governor of Imo State, revealed that the police officers arrested his son-in-law unjustly and also tore the dress of his first daughter, Mrs Uloma who got married to Uche Nwosu.

During his interview with Journalists in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, Okorocha stated that Hope Uzodinma,

who is the current Imo State Governor was the mastermind of the arrest of Uche Nwosu after he allegedly deceived the Inspector general of police into disregarding the church building.

Rochas Okorocha accused Hope Uzodinma of trying to frame his son-in-law with unnecessary accusations and he challenged the Imo State Governor to name everyone responsible for the killings in the once peaceful Imo State or he would be seen as the ‘butcher of his people.

Okorocha told the Imo State Police to set his in-law free and honour his constitutional rights of being charged to court after an arrest.

Mr Rabiu Hussaini, the Imo State commissioner of police had confirmed that Uche Nwosu was arrested by the police and not kidnapped as rumours say,

despite all efforts Rochas to contact his arrested son-in-law, the police couldn’t grant him access.

When speaking with the journalists, Rocha’s statement reads,

“My son-in-law was accompanied by my wife and daughter to a church service in Nkwerre and while the church service was still ongoing, police officers stormed to the venue and started shooting aimlessly and in the process, they tore my daughter’s clothe and pushed my wife away”.

” I want to use this opportunity to State that my son-in-law, Uche Nwosu wasn’t given any Police invitation or arrest warrant and this is the kind of injustice masterminded by Hope Uzodinma”.

“ The vehicle that was used to arrest him had a plate number of the Imo State Government and according to the State commissioner of police, the inspector general of police approved his arrest earlier before the incident”.

“ This method of arresting Uche Nwosu is unprofessional as over 100 gunshots were heard from the eyewitnesses in the church and for the IGP,

Usman Baba to approve his arrest suddenly is in response to a serious information sent to him by Hope Uzodinma who could find a way of framing things up”.

“ President Buhari needs to be informed about the negative treatment of Uzodinma against me and my family as he is trying to frame me and my son-in-law”

” I want Uzodinma to publicly expose those behind the killings in Imo State and failure to do this, we can be labelled as the butcher targeting his people”.

It can be recalled that Senator Rochas Okorocha, who currently represents Imo West in the Senate hasn’t been on good terms with Hope Uzodinma ever since he became the Governor of Imo State and Hope Uzodinma has been targeting Rochas and his family since he became the Imo State Governor.

Many suggest that it is in retaliation for the 2019 Imo State Governorship election where Rochas tried to make his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, his successor at the expense of Hope Uzodinma, who was also chosen by the APC to contest in the 2019 Imo State Governorship election.

However, the election ended in favour of the opposition party, PDP as Emeka Ihedioha was declared the winner of the 2019 Imo State Governorship election which was later annulled by the supreme court and led to the emergence of Hope Uzodinma as the Imo State Governor.
