Leicester City boss, Claudio Ranieri has shed some light on Emmanuel Dennis’ injury and substitution during New Year Day’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspurs.
The striker who will not be part of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations finals campaign at the instance of Ranieri, was replaced on 46 minutes by Jao Pedro as Davinson Sanchez’s headed goal six minutes into added time resigned the Hornets to defeat in the match game 21 fixture at Vicarage Road after an impressive defensive display for the majority of the encounter.
Dennis remains a major for subsequent trip to Leicester City, given Ranieri’s statement at a post-match conference reported on the club’s official website.
“He (Dennis) had a little injury problem before, and he felt something as well, so we took a precaution. Before the match he wasn’t 100 per cent and I saw he was a little nervous during the match, so I changed and put on João Pedro who played a very good match,” stated the vastly experienced Italian tactician who felt there were positives to take from his side’s performance despite the result.
Dennis, 24, has scored eight goals and rendered eight assists for Watford. He was on target in 4-1 home loss against West Ham on 28 December and 1-0 loss at Brentford on 10 December.
