Nigeria striker, Stephen Odey is delighted to sign a contract with Randers FC until 2024, and wants everyone body to know he is staying at the Danish Superliga club.
The 23 years old joined Randers on loan from Racing Genk in August, with the former signing him on a permanent basis on Sunday, 21 November, announcing the decision in a statement on their official website.
The former MFM player expressed his excitement in a post on his Instagram page on Monday.
“A big win at home. The best way to announce my stay in Randers,” stated the Nigeria international after starring in his team’s 4-1 victory over Vejle on Sunday.
The contract came as a reward for the great value Odey has added to Randers in his three months stay at Cepheus Park, having scored 10 goals in 14 matches across all competitions for The Horses.
Speaking after the resounding win, Odey said he was looking forward to his team replicating the feat during Thursday’s UEFA Europa Conference League fixture against CFR Cruj at the same venue.
He said: “I’m really happy. Because now I do not have to answer journalists who ask if I stay or leave. Now everyone can see that I am a Randers FC player. If we fight in the same way as we did today, then I think we can do the same on Thursday and take the three points.”
Odey has so far scored two goals in the UEFA Europa Conference League and will be looking to add to the tally against the Romanians. He bagged his first red card as a Randers player in a 2-2 home draw against Jablonec on 4 November.
Odey started his professional career in 2016 at Nigeria Professional Football League side, MFM FC, from where he joined FC Zurich after weighing in with 23 goals in 42 matches in one season for the Lagos based club.
He played the 2020–2021 season on at Amiens before joining Randers in August.
