Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Has Been Adjourned To Another Date

Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial had been the centre of the discussion for the IPOB, South East residents and the Nigerian government and recently, the case had been adjourned to January 2022.

The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra is currently facing trial in Nigeria following his serious secession movements for the people of the South East region.

After he got arrested in Kenya and extradited to Nigeria in July he had been in the custody of the DSS and awaited his first trial in October.

During his trial in October, the Judge in charge of the case postponed Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial to November and according to the latest report, his trial had once again been shifted to January.

During the recent trial of Nnamdi Kanu which was scheduled for the 10th of November, 2021 BBC News pidgin reported that Nnamdi Kanu informed the Judge,

Binta Nyako that the officers of the Department of State Service – DSS refused to grant his lawyers access to the courtroom.

During Nnamdi Kanu’s trial today being the 10th of November, 2021, some people were spotted protesting the murder of Ahmed Gulak who was reportedly killed by unknown gunmen in Owerri, Imo state.

Nigerian Federal government had in the amended charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015,

which was signed by a team of government lawyers led by the Director, Public Prosecution of the Federation, Mr M. B. Abubakar,

alleged that the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had previously issued death threats to people who tried to disobey the Sit-At-Home directives of the IPOB and this is a clear act of terrorism.

The federal government of Nigeria pointed out that the Nnamdi Kanu’s actions which led

to the formation of the Sit-At-Home order had resulted in the reduction of business activities in the South-East region.

The Nigerian government was reported to have arranged 5 people who would testify against Nnamdi Kanu in court to make it more appealing to charge him with terrorism.

Among the 5 witnesses arranged against Nnamdi Kanu by the government are officials of the DSS and

a man Known as  Ronald S. who was later discovered to be a manager of a hotel in Lagos State.

Nnamdi Kanu’s trial would continue in the first month of 2022 ( 19th/20th of January ) after the Judge shifted the trial.
