Yenagoa — Dr Kolawole Oredipe, a media adviser to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, has formally joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State, according to the Punch daily.
In an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta, Oredipe, who is also a broadcaster and filmmaker, stated this.
The journalist, who is from Iperu-Remo in Ogun State’s Ikenne Local Government Area, claimed that he had been practicing journalism for over 20 years and had become an expert on Niger Delta reportage.
Oradipo stated that he will soon follow in the footsteps of many journalists and enter active politics.
Though he is now serving in Bayelsa, he stated that his politics will be focused on his native state.
“I had wished to enter active politics, and having been an active union leader at NUJ, I ran for the chairmanship of the NUJ’s Bayelsa State Council and came in second,” he stated. Bayelsa People were taken aback by the fact that I, a Yoruba man, had received so many votes.
“As a result, even though I am still serving in Bayelsa, I am returning to Ogun State.” In Ogun State, I’ll be more active in politics. My narrative is about a journalist who decides to pursue a career in politics.
“We have a number of them, including Smart Adeyemi, the current governor of Bauchi State, who was previously a journalist.” They’re strewn throughout the place. So I’ve come to Ogun State to formally declare my entry into active politics.”
He, on the other hand, stated that he had not yet made up his mind about his political future.
