Garba Highlights Successes In Age-Grade Football Coaching At 56

Nigeria’s most successful coach of national youth teams, Manu Garba, has taken stock of the various titles won as a coach, especially his successes with national U17 and U20 teams on his 56th birthday anniversary.

In a statement on his WhatsApp page, the tactician expressed gratitude to God, highlighted his many accomplishments in international youth football and seeking more blessings from his creator.

He stated: “God willing, I’m plus one today and may Allah bless me more than the two FIFA U17 World Cup gold medals, AFCON U-20 gold, AFCON U17 gold and silver, Super Six gold medal, and many more gold and silver medals in my kitty.”

Garba won several laurels at youth international level, including guiding Nigeria to a record 5fth triumph at the 2013 U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations two years later.

He was three times coach of the U17 national team, Golden Eaglets, with his third stint ending in fiasco, having been dismissed
his role following the team’s dismal performance at 2019 World Cup in Brazil, with 3-1 defeat to the Netherlands in the round of 16 ending their adventure at the cadet tournament.

Garba also tinkered the Flying Eagles to win the 2015 Glo Super Six, preparatory to All-African Games qualifier and the African Youth Championship in Senegal. The tournament also featured Enyimba, Warri Wolves, Nigeria’s U-23, Kano Pillars and Dolphins FC , who later metamorphosed into Rivers United.
