Flood Prediction in Delta State: NIMET

It is hereby announced for the information of the general public particularly Deltans that the Nigeria Metrological Agency (NIMET) has predicted that Delta State will experience flooding this year as a result of heavy rainfall.

In view of the prediction, the Ministry of Environment has advised people living in the River Banks and Low Land Areas to move to the Higher Lands or place of safety.

All owners of illegal structures such as buildings and caravans blocking natural waterways are to remove them and people should stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the drains to avoid blockage.

Accordingly, the Authorities of Local Government Councils in the State, Traditional Rulers, Community and Opinion Leaders are by this announcement advised to step up preparedness against the flood prediction to reduce the level oF destruction of properties and avoid loss of lives.
