Onome Ebi is arguably one of the most beautiful players in the current Super Falcons team, but it took some years before the 38-year-old became conscious of her physical endowment.
The high-scoring centre-back alluded to this in a statement on her Instagram page on Tuesday, asserting that her self confidence grew from the time she started loving herself and seeing things that weren’t attractive about herself sexy.
“I had to grow to Love my body. Finally it occurred to me, I’m either going to love me or hate me. And I chose to love myself. Then everything kind of sprung from there. Confidence makes me Sexy,” the former Omidiran Babes player stated alongside pictures, including one of the two above.
Onome, who is the longest-serving and oldest player in the current Super Falcons team, started her career at defunct Omidiran Babes in 2001 before going on to.lace boots for Bayelsa Queens,
Piteå, Djurgården, Düvenciler Lisesispor,
Ataşehir Belediyespor, Sunnanå SK, Henan Jianye and FC Minsk, where she recently ran down her second stint, scoring four times in eleven matches for the Belarusian side.
She has been capped 91 times by Nigeria since 2003, and was a key member of the Nigerian squad in the 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions of the African Women’s Championship, winning the tournament four times 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018 .
The Bayelsa State indigene is the first African footballer to play in five FIFA World Cup finals, taking part in the 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015, 2019 editions. She also represented Nigeria at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beljing, China.
