Arsenal Release Big News On £50 Million Transfer Target

After Mikel Arteta hinted at Alexandre Lacazette’s leaving at the end of the season, Arsenal have reportedly made signing Alexander Isak a priority.

The Swedish striker has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time, and following a successful season with Real Sociedad in La Liga, Spanish source Fichajes claims he is the Gunners’ major transfer target.

Lacazette’s contract expires at the end of the season, and there has appeared to be little progress in renewing it, indicating that he will leave if a deal cannot be found.

Arteta on Lacazette’s contract

In his news conference ahead of the game against Liverpool, Arteta expressed his skepticism regarding the contract extension, saying, “I don’t know there is so much stuff on his deal.” What I can say is that I’m quite pleased with Lacazette’s work.

“Until the end of the season, we’re not going to talk about any of it.”

Nketiah and Lacazette to depart Emirates

Before the start of the season, the Frenchman was placed on the transfer list, but no club approached Arsenal with an acceptable offer.

However, given his remarkable recent play, interest in the striker would have skyrocketed, especially given the possibility of signing him on a free transfer.

Lacazette isn’t the only striker whose contract is due to expire after the season; Eddie Nketiah’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the season.

Aubameyang and Balogun will be the only two strikers left at Arsenal if both of them left.

This opens the way for a significant attacking signing like Isak, who should be a top priority for the club.

So far this season, he has 5 goals and 1 assist in 852 minutes of La Liga and Europa League activity, and he is a big reason for Real Sociedad’s league-leading position.

Arsenal has an added motivation to pursue him when he hinted at being an Arsenal fan when he described Thierry Henry as his idol.

Despite the high price tag, this is a route the Gunners should consider pursuing if Lacazette does decide to leave the Emirates.
