AFCON-Bound Simon Happy To End 2021 On Victorious Note With Nantes

Nigeria international and Nantes forward, Moses Simon is delighted to cap off 2021 with a win at Saint-Etienne on Wednesday night.

The 26-year-old expressed his excitement in a post on his Instagram page on Friday alongside four pictures of the match, one of which shows the entire Nantes team celebrating wildly in the dressing room after the Ligue One game week 19 fixture at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Saint-Ètienne.

“Great way to end the year 2021 and half of the season. Thanks to God almighty, the fans for a wonderful year,see you 2022,” stated Simon, who was substituted on 78 minutes by 31-year-old French defender, Sébastien Corchia as Coach Antoine Kombouare plotted for the away win that came his way at the dead.

Simon, who is expected to be a key player for Nigeria at 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals starting January 9 in Cameroun, made his 17th start in 18 matches for Nantes this season, with two goals to the good.

Kolo Muani’s 83rd minute goal gave Nantes their eight win in 19 matches of the campaign, which saw them move from 10th to 7th in the standings with 28 points, 18 points adrift of leaders PSG.

Simon was loaned to Nantes by Levante on
15 August 2019, with the Ligue One club triggering the option to buy, signing the player on a four-year contract at the end of the season.
